Vision Built has completed Ireland’s first Zero Emissions Building (ZEB) primary schools at St Brigid’s National School in Limerick, delivering it as a full turnkey modular project that was manufactured offsite at its Tubbercurry facility and transported to the school site for installation. The project is described as an exemplar ZEB school for the Irish education, sector designed to achieve zero net operations carbon emissions through energy-efficient architecture, high-performance insulation, and airtight construction, supported by technologies such as heat pumps, photovoltaic solar panels, and smart energy monitoring systems to minimise and balance energy use. Vision Built also incorporated lower-embodied-carbon steel produced via electric arc furnace technology in the main structural frames, aligning the modular system with circular-economy goals by recusing waste, shortening construction time, and supporting future adaptability or reuse of components.
